The current schedule for Spring 2019 is as follows. Please note: our ability to offer this many practice sessions is wholly dependent on volunteer coach participation at the necessary levels.
We will do our best to stick to this plan for both practices and Meets, but sometimes changes (some last minute) are driven by weather or facility situations out of our control. We will keep the website updated and notify you of any changes as soon as we are able.
Practice Schedule & Details
Practice starts the week of March 25th and runs through the week of June 3rd. Practices will not be held the week of April 15th.
We will hold Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday Practices at Cooper Middle School.
We will hold Friday Practices at Churchill Elementary School. ***Please note this is a change***
Practices are separated by age groups (younger/older). Your child's age group is based on their age as of the start of the season (3/25). Kids need to practice with their assigned age group.
Please remember that a responsible adult needs to remain onsite during practice.
The practice schedule for the 5-8 yr-old group is:
Friday 6-7pm (at Churchill Elementary)
The practice schedule for the 9-14 yr-old group is:
Fridays 5-6pm (at Churchill Elementary)
Which practice session(s) your child comes to and how many he/she attend during the week is up to you. The program strives to be flexible and we do not assign you to a particular day/time slot. We do appreciate our families being generally consistent week-to-week for the purposes of managing coach-to-athlete ratios. To the extent you can attend the same sessions each week it helps everyone.
Please know that we might need to ask the parent/adult audience for some help during practices. Practices run best when we have a good adult/coach-to-athlete ratio.
Meet Schedule & Details
Meets are currently planned for the following Sundays: March 31 (Orientation Meet), April 7th, April 28th, May 5th, May 12th, May 19th, June 2nd and June 9th (Family Fun Meet).
Meets will be held between 1 and 5pm at Falls Church High School. We split the Meets into two sessions, 1-3pm and 3-5pm, and alternate which age group (younger/older) has the earlier session every other Sunday.
As with practice, your child's age group is based on their age at the start of the season (3/25). Your child will receive a race bib at the first meet he/she attends. The race bib's first digit/number represents your child's assigned age group.
Just as all other sports separate by ages/grades, we require your child to attend the meet session assigned to their age group so they can compete along side their peers. We cannot allow older/younger siblings to compete in the older/younger age group.
Please remember that a responsible adult needs to remain at the meet.
We always need on-field volunteers (no experience required) so please come on down! With that said, only volunteering adults can be on the field. All spectators should watch from the stands or the fence.
