TUESDAY, MAY 15th

Happy Tuesday!  We hope everyone came through last night's storms okay, and that this morning is a bright, sunny day for everyone!  Since it's our last week, we're gonna be a bit long-winded for a Tuesday, so please hang in there to the bitter end:
 
Weather & RainedOut alerts
We guess Mother Nature wants to finish strong just like our racers, so it's looking like the weather for our final week at MYTF is going to be just as tricky as our Meet days have been.  *sigh* The thunderstorm forecasts are the hardest ones for us to manage, because we really can't make a good decision about practices until or unless the weather actually happens.  If fields are closed because of excessive rains, we usually know that by ~3-3:30 pm; but thunderstorms tend to be pop-up, so (like last week), we don't know for sure until we actually hear thunder or see lightning.  That's why adult presence at all events is so important, and why we ask everyone to sign up for RainedOut.
 
Given that our practices are only an hour and that we need to keep everyone clear for 30 minutes after the last thunderclap/lightning streak, if we see/hear evidence of a thunderstorm while on site, a practice will be cancelled in its entirety, immediately; we make the decision about subsequent practices as soon as we can thereafter.  We don't like canceling if it can be helped, but safety is our primary concern, so we'll err on the side of caution every time.

Final Fundraiser TOMORROW, Wednesday, 5/16, at Panera Pike 7 in Tysons, 4-8 pm (flyer attached)
Just ONE last chance to help MYTF raise funds to keep our program costs low and continue to grow into the Fall season!  Please plan your family dinner tomorrow at Panera in the Pike 7 Plaza in Tysons, on Route 7 at Gosnell, near the intersection with 123.  Panera has lots of good options both healthy and indulgent, and we appreciate their support of our program!  Hours for our fundraiser are 4-8 pm, so you can go before or after practice - just remember to tell them when you order that you are with the MYTF fundraiser.  Thank you all for your support of our fundraisers this season!
 
FOUND FITBIT (& LOTS of other items)
This week, someone found a Fitbit on their way back to the parking lot - please let us know if it's yours!  And if you're missing a big blanket, a teddy bear, or any water bottles, jackets, hats, or gloves, we probably have those too...
 
Planning for Fall
1.  We are already well into the process of planning for our Fall season, but we need your help!  First, please take a quick minute to fill out our THREE-question survey (one question is just optional comments!) at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/V9RCVSD (and trust us, you will WANT to answer these questions!).  We aren't sure exactly how everything will work this Fall (we do have some ideas), but we absolutely take all feedback into consideration as we plan future seasons.
 
2.  More importantly, it is our *expectation* that we will be going to TWO Meet locations in the Fall, which will allow us to go back to having ALL afternoon Meets on Sundays (yay!).  HOWEVER, in order to achieve this, we are going to need more help.  As you've probably seen this season, both of our Head Coaches and Mickey have been available all day at all Meets - that's not going to be possible when we're in two places at the same time!
 
We need two committed volunteers to serve as Administrative Coordinators (one for each Meet location) willing to take responsibility for:  making sure all of the supplies get to and from Meets; setting up and taking down the Admin and Timer areas; facilitating the ribbon process; and generally providing Admin support for initial check-ins (giving out bibs & tshirts), spare bibs, safety pins, etc.  You may absolutely delegate some or all of these tasks, but you will be responsible for coordinating the volunteers and ensuring that everything is taken care of each week (including filling in if volunteers aren't available).  We WILL be offering a small stipend for these positions.  We realize it's a big commitment, so we are evaluating our budget to make a small payment possible to each Admin Coordinator.
 
Family Fun this week
More to come in the Friday email, but Sunday will be our final Meet, and it's "Family Fun"!  We invite all parents and siblings (and other ambitious family members) to join in the fun, and run with their MYTFers in a 4x200M relay, a 100M dash, and/or a Mile run (we will make field events possible IF we have volunteers to help run them).  We also bring goodies, because what's a season-ending party without refreshments?  
 
PLEASE NOTE THAT THE TIMES ARE DIFFERENT THIS WEEK as you plan your family attendance:  so as not to burden either Group with a 4th morning Meet, we are starting at 12:00 NOON with the Red Group (all ages)the Blue Group will begin at 3:00 pm (all ages).  Please plan to join us for a fun day of friendly (and we emphasize friendly) family competition, goodies, and thanks to our many volunteer coaches, Head Timers, and all the many others who've stepped forward each week to make our Meets and practices possible.

FRIDAY, MAY 11th

 

It's that time again:  happy Friday, y'all!  And what a beautiful Friday it's looking to be!

 
Unfortunately, Thursday was a bit of a bust, and we're bummed about that.  But, 'tis the season, and apparently thunderstorms are forecast as a possibility just about every day for the next two weeks, so if you aren't already (and we certainly hope you are...), PLEASE make sure you are subscribed to RainedOut alerts!  It is entirely possible that we will have to suspend or cancel portions of the Meet on Sunday due to storm activity, so make sure you have texted the word TURBOJAV to 84483 to subscribe to MYTF alerts.  We cannot send Google groups email or post website updates except by computer, and when we're all at the track, that's not possible!  So, RainedOut alerts are the ONLY way we will be able to communicate changes on Sunday, so please subscribe and stay tuned.
 
A few other reminders about Sunday's Meet:
 
- Yep, we know it's Mother's Day, and we absolutely understand if your family has other plans on Sunday.  But, if you do have time to come to your Meet, we'd love to share our Mother's Day with you, and we have a small token of appreciation for all the moms (and mom-role-serving people) who join us!
 
- For those who may be interested in giving the Junior Olympics a try this Spring, we sent out an email on Wednesday with all the info about how to register, and that is posted to our website on the News page for easy reference.
 
Results for last week (and cumulative for the season) have also been posted to our website on the Results page.  It's a downloadable spreadsheet using bib numbers as identifiers, so feel free to look up your child(ren)'s progress so far this season, at your leisure. 
 
Parents who are not volunteering are reminded to please remain OUTSIDE the fence, along with any non-registered siblings.  We've noticed an increasing number of spectators wandering inside to the field, so we want to remind everyone that to keep things as minimally chaotic as possible, all non-yellow-shirted (or coach-shirted) personal cheering sections should remain in the stands or along the (outside of the) fence.
 
- We've been absolutely terrible about remembering to remind you, but we have one opportunity left for each Group so:  this week is the RED Group's opportunity to take in your race bibs for a FREE kid's salad or kid's box at CHOPT McLean!  (Also, a quick thank you to all who came out to our fundraiser at CHOPT!)
 
- And finally, on a related note:  we have one last fundraiser coming up this week, at Panera in the Pike 7 Plaza on Route 7 in Tysons Corner, on Wednesday, May 16th, 4-8 pm.  We hope this location will be a bit more convenient for the non-McLean folks in our program, and that you'll come have dinner with us in support of MYTF!
 
SUNDAY'S PLAN
 
This is an exciting week for the older kids (9-14s) as we will give them a try at the Hurdles event this week!  They've had a taste of the hurdles during some of the weekly practices, and now they get to try them on the big track.  Heights and distances are set appropriately for each age group, and kids are encouraged (but absolutely not required) to try this event IF they're comfortable doing so.  We know it's a bit tricky and some kids are genuinely afraid of tripping (although our hurdles are collapsible to help with this issue), so we don't push anyone to do it who isn't ready, but the opportunity is there if they want it.  (Please note:  we do not do the Hurdles for the younger kids (5-8s) because it requires a bit too much coordination for those ages and is too likely to result in skinned knees and chins.)
 
Because the hurdles can take a bit of time to set up, we have only three official races planned for the older kids, and will run the Mile only if time permits for those who may have missed Trophy Mile day and may want to try to earn their trophy.  The Mile will also be a Family Fun event next week.
 
Also because the hurdles require some time and effort to set up, we would absolutely appreciate some additional parent help with set up this week for the 9-14s Meets.  Even if you are not able to volunteer for an entire Meet at a particular station, we would welcome your help from a few minutes before the Meet through warmups getting the Hurdles set up along the track.  The more help, the faster we're set up, the less waiting time for the kids, and the greater likelihood we'll get to the Mile for the kids who still need to earn trophies.
 
And also because of Hurdles, there will be NO high-jump clinic this week so Coach Adam can help with hurdle setup.

9-14s:  Hurdles, 100M, 800M, and hopefully Mile, time-permitting

Good morning, MYTF families!

 
Each Spring, we have a number of runners who want to test their mettle and see what real competition is like, and the USA Track & Field (USATF) Junior Olympics are a fun and exciting way to do that.  MYTF, as a developmental program, does not officially compete with other clubs, nor gear its program toward the goal of competing in the Junior Olympics.  However, we do make it possible for those runners who are interested in the extra challenge to participate in Junior Olympics as a member of a club (rather than as an unaffiliated runner), and provide the coaching support required for club participants.  
 
For those of you who may be interested, information about how to participate this Spring is below, and we are happy to answer any additional questions you may have.  Please note:  while the first JO Meet is still more than a month away, we suggest you get started NOW with the process of registering with USATF, because it can take quite awhile to turn everything around!
 
Schedule
For those of you who have participated in the Spring JO before:  they have done away with the initial qualifying Meet (the one typically held at Fort Belvoir), so there are now only three JO Meets to the Spring season, as follows:
 
- Potomac Valley Association (PVA) Qualifying Meet - June 14-17, PG Sports & Learning Complex, Landover, MD 20785 (this is the complex adjacent to the FedEx Field parking lot)
 
Those participants who qualify in their event(s) by placing high enough in their age group will have the opportunity to advance to:
 
- Regional Qualifying Meet - July 5-8,  Hampton University, Hampton, VA 
 
and depending on performance there...
 
- USATF Junior Olympic Nationals - July 23-29North Carolina A&T University, Greensboro, NC
 
Registering
Families wanting to register one or more children for JO must do the following:
 
1.  Register your child(ren) for a USATF membership, at www.usatf.org.  The cost is $20 for a single-year youth membership, and that cost is paid by the family (not MYTF).
 
PLEASE NOTE:  You MUST affiliate with MYTF during the USATF registration process in order to run as an MYTF runner; we are not able to see you from our administrative side and register you for JO events as part of our club without this affiliation on the USATF site!  
 
--> To do so, you must choose "Potomac Valley" rather than "Virginia" in the state/location box.  That will bring up a list of choices that will include club number 10-949, McLean Youth Track & Field.
 
2.  Provide proof of birthdate for each child you are registering (the options should be specified during or at the end of the USATF registration process, but include birth certificate and passport) to the PVA by emailing a scanned copy to Herb Nicholls, at  .  In the email, identify yourself as an MYTF club member (parent) registering children for Spring JO.  Include your child's name, birthdate, and USATF membership number, along with the scanned image.
 
3.  Email us at   with the following information for each child you are registering:
  • Child's full name
  • Child's birthdate
  • Child's USATF membership number
  • the JO event(s) s/he wants to register for - note:  they are limited to THREE (3) events, including both race events and field events (that is JO's limitation, not ours)
MYTF will then register the kids for their respective events with JO as MYTF club members.  MYTF will pay (and assume the cost for) all registration fees, for each Meet (Association, Regional, and National).  We will also provide the required coaches for packet pickup and onsite registration at the Association Meet.
 
MYTF will assume Meet/event registration costs, but any travel costs to any of the JO events are the exclusive responsibility of the family.
 
Practices
While it is outside of our normal season and we cannot guarantee that sessions will be able to be held, we do make an attempt to provide a few extra practice sessions for JO registrants, geared toward polishing performance for JO and understanding how the JO environment will be different from MYTF.  We currently have three practices tentatively scheduled on May 25th (7:30 - 9:00 pm), June 5th (6-8 pm), and June 7th (6-8 pm), all at Falls Church High School.  We know those times are later than our usual sessions and may be harder for younger participants, but that's the only time "real" track space is available to us.  More information about practices will come directly from the coaches to the JO participant pool closer to the time.
 
Uniforms
Uniforms are not required to participate in JO, but sometimes it helps participants to feel like they're really part of a club, so we do have JO uniforms available on both a loan-out basis or for purchase.  We hope to upgrade them in the near future to our current color scheme, but you can see the existing look on the JO page of our website.  Most youth sizes are available in both shorts and tops.  Runners may wear either running shoes (sneakers) or spikes at JO (spikes are limited to 1/4").
 
Finally, we want to remind everyone choosing to participate that MYTF is merely a participating club in JO; we do not have any input to how the events are run.  The environment is very different from MYTF - it is not always as clearly organized and doesn't always run on time; you MUST listen for calls for your age/event or you will miss it altogether; and not everyone's personal or club philosophy is as supportive as that of MYTF.  Please prepare your children for these realities, but remember that when participating as MYTF club members, we ask that you rep MYTF the same way at JO that we do at our own Meets - with positivity and good sportsmanship toward everyone.

Happy Friday, y'all!

 
We don't know what we've done to upset the weather gods, but it looks like we're trading high winds for rain in the Sunday forecast this week.  Frankly, we'll take that deal after watching all our stuff blow around last week!  We remind everyone to dress accordingly, because as long as the rains remain light and/or intermittent, we will operate our Meets as scheduled.  Do stay tuned for RainedOut alerts though as thunderstorms have come and gone from the forecast and may resurface, or in case rains become too heavy for us to reasonably continue.
 
A few items for everyone's attention this week:
 
The Spirit of MYTF
 
We'd like to remind everyone that MYTF is a "cheer for everyone, and never against anyone" kind of environment.  MYTF is a unique program in this area in that its focus is developmental rather than competitive.  It is sought out by many families precisely because it is a low-pressure atmosphere, especially for kids who struggle with anxiety or who haven't found a home in other sports where the skill and competition levels are high while their own are still developing.  We emphasize self-improvement, self-esteem, and sportsmanship - not on winning the race, and that goes for both our runners and their personal cheering sections.  
 
Parents, please remember that while your coaching and directing may be aimed at your own children, they are overheard by others, and hurt feelings are not what we're trying to develop in our young and impressionable runners.  A good rule of thumb is that you are on the right track if your cheers are about what has already happened (great effort! excellent finish!) rather than on coaching what to do next (catch up! go faster! push harder!), and focus on the positive aspect's of your child's performance - or everyone's performance as a whole - without singling anyone out for having lost, being beaten, or being behind.  We thank you for helping us build everyone's confidence, and for keeping it positive and fun for all participants.
 
Results & Ribbons
 
Results are posted to our website (www.mcleantrack.org), and a ribbons will be available this Sunday for last Sunday's events.  PLEASE NOTE:  because our focus is on finishing the Mile, we do not provide ribbons for the Trophy Mile race; ribbons will be provided for the other races, and for the field events.  The kids got trophies for finishing the Mile, and where available, they can view their times online or on the printed copy at the Admin table, but the emphasis was on getting everyone to just give it a try, not on place finishes.
 
Speaking of times:  we again had some hiccups with the times for some races, including a few of the Mile heats.  We do regret that we can't always provide accurate recorded times for everyone, but the timing process has many moving parts and is provided entirely by volunteers (many of whom are new each week), so sometimes it just doesn't work out.  We appreciate your understanding, and your helping reminding your kids that what matters is how they feel about their own performance, and whether or not they're enjoying the experience of running each week.
 
High-Jump Clinic
 
Our 9-14-year-olds are again invited to join Coach Adam for the High Jump clinics one hour before their respective Meets begin (so, Red 9-14s report at 10 am; Blue 9-14s report at 2:30 pm). You may go directly to the High Jump area after securing your race bib to the front of your outermost layer...
 
THIS WEEK'S PLAN
 
Weather-permitting (ha!), we will be giving the RaceWalk a try this weekend!  The RaceWalk is a neat event that gets surprisingly few takers at the Junior Olympics, so it's a great way to get in on the action if you can master its unique skillset.  Many kids have seen it introduced during the weekly practice sessions, but we'll give everyone a chance to try it this weekend.  The 5-8-year-olds will do an 800-meter distances and the 9-14s a 1500-meter walk (standard for the age group).  Get those hips rolling, and keep both feet on the ground - no jogging! 
 
The expected order of events is:
- 100M
- RaceWalk (800M or 1500M, depending on age)
- 200M
 
The RaceWalk can take some time, so we aren't sure that we'll be able to get to a fourth event this week.  If we do, it will be the 800M mid-distance race.  We will definitely plan on the Mile next week for those who didn't have the opportunity to earn their trophy last week, and it will also be an event at the Family Fun Meet - where parents and siblings can join in!  (Trophies are for MYTF registered participants only, however.)
 
AND FINALLY...
  • Please remember that we will need LOTS of volunteers at each Meet (our current count is about 17!), so especially if you haven't taken a turn yet, please come get a cool neon t-shirt when we call for volunteers, and help us out at the timing table or a field event so all kids can experience a full suite of Meet events.  
  • PLEEEEEEEASE check the Lost & Found - we have literally outgrown our box with all the clothing and water bottles this season, so please stop by and see if anything in our collection might be yours!
  • Remember LOTS of water, light layers, and your positive cheers!

Happy Tuesday, everyone!

 
First, a quick congratulations to all those who turned out (on yet another super-blustery Sunday) for the Trophy Mile Meet!  We handed out a LOT of trophies to a whole lot of very deserving kids who gave it a go in spite of high winds and a serious chill.  There were some really valiant efforts, especially among first-time Milers - and a few tears may have fallen both on and off the track - but they got it done and we are SO PROUD!  *standing ovation*  We also extend a special thank you to all of our assistant coaches, volunteers, and parent cheerleaders who helped keep the morale up all the way around those four laps; the encouragement really makes a difference.  And for those of you who weren't able to make it on Sunday, we will offer the Mile again at least one more time during a regular Meet (probably the 5/15 Meet) and at the Family Fun Meet, so kids who had to miss this week can still earn their trophies.  (One trophy per season though, so those who've already earned a trophy are welcome to run the Mile again, but for their own please, not a second trophy!)
 
And now for a quick FYI:
 
If you'd like to see what a "real" Meet looks like in action, Falls Church High School is hosting it's only home Meet of the season tomorrow, Wednesday, 5/2, beginning at 5:30 pm, in the same stadium we use.  We know many of you will be at practice for some of that time, but if you're not planning to attend practice tomorrow or have time to swing by afterward, you should drop in and see what the full action looks like at the high school level.  Admission is free, so this is great opportunity, especially for middle schoolers who may be considering Track & Field as a competitive sport in high school.  We hope to see you there!

hank goodness it's Friday and this rainy week is just about over!  This kind of weather not only takes a bite out of our practice schedules, but it's a major drain on our energy.  Guess it's a good thing we don't have to cook tonight, right? :D

 
Fresh & Healthy Fundraiser TONIGHT (Fri, 4/28) at CHOPT McLean, 1449A Chain Bridge Rd, 4-8:30 pm  <--NOTE the time correction - you have until 8:30 to get there, not 8!
Our super-awesome sponsor/fundraising partner/generous-kids'-salad-or-box-donor is hosting an MYTF fundraiser tonight!  Get your weekend off to healthy start with a trip to CHOPT and support MYTF in the process!  Have other plans tonight but a busy weekend coming up?  Head in early and stock up on salads for later!  Can't make it but know other folks that love CHOPT?  Spread the word!  MYTF receives 20% of the proceeds from tonight's event, and although we're not allowed to actively campaign outside their doors, we are absolutely allowed to invite everyone we know to come in for dinner, so be sure they (and you) know to tell the CHOPT cashier they're there to support MYTF!  (flyer attached)
 
FOR SUNDAY:
 
Trophy Mile Meet - this week is our Trophy Mile Meet.  A slight variation from our typical Meets, this focuses on encouraging everyone to give the 1600M (mile-ish) race a try. 
  • Every child who completes the mile race earns a trophy!  
  • To maximize participation and ensure sufficient time for as many mile heats as we may need, we only do the 100M and Mile races this weekend.  IF we finish early enough and kids are still geared up, we will also offer the 400M, but it is neither guaranteed nor expected - we want everyone to give the Mile a try without burning themselves out.
  • All field events will also be offered, although the availability of the Long Jump is subject to sand pit conditions based on this week's rain.
  • We know that the Mile is a challenge for some kids, but we do ask that parents NOT run alongside their kids, even inside the track on the turf (even if you're in a volunteer shirt!).  This is both potentially dangerous and unfair to kids who don't have accompanying runners.  We absolutely encourage spreading out around the track (outside the fence) to cheer them at all corners, and we try to do the same with volunteers on the inside.  Your kids can do it (you'd be amazed how motivating that trophy is!) and the coaches will do everything we can to help them along.
  • If you are not able to attend this Sunday's Meets, your kids will still have the opportunity to earn their trophy at subsequent Meets.  The Mile is usually our "if we have time" race, but we will do our best to make sure we get the opportunity at least one more time this season, and also at our Family Fun Meet.
Reminder:  Kids MUST run in their own age division
We know some families have kids in both the 5-8 and 9-14 groups and that can make for a long day, but we are firm about the rule of running only with their age divisions.  We know your 8- and 9-year-olds are close to dividing line, but as soon as we start making exceptions, the floodgates open and it quickly becomes chaotic.  It's important that we try to keep kids running with peers and can keep Meets operating on time, so please help us by observing this rule.
 
Ribbons
A quick shoutout to our OUTSTANDING crew of Head Timers this season - they doing an absolutely terrific job!  The timing device, however, is in the doghouse.  Unfortunately, it developed a hiccup late in the day that caused us to miss out on some recorded times, so we do apologize.  We have correct finish orders so everyone can receive the appropriate ribbon, but don't have official times to report.  We do our best as a volunteer squad to provide this information, but sometimes it just doesn't work out.  Ribbons can be collected in the Admin area at any time during any of the four Meets, and ribbons are always available at subsequent Meets if you weren't available to collect them last week.
 
Avoiding Loss of Events
The need for a sufficient number of volunteers got a little dire last week, and we were [ ]<-- this close to having to drop one of the field events at more than one Meet.  PLEASE step up and take a turn as a timer or field event helper when we call for volunteers!  Every Meet needs its own set of volunteers, and it takes about 18 of you to make all the events work (yes, in addition to our coaches)!  Since we know you're there anyway (since MYTF is not a drop off sport...), why not come on down and make the two hours pass quickly?  We promise it's more fun than it looks, and it gives you great insider insight into just how terrific our whole MYTF family is to be able to give our kids such a great experience each and every week.
 
And finally:
No rain in the forecast so far (yay!), but it looks like the high winds will be back (boo!) so remember to bring light layers to be shed or added as needed.  It may be chillier than it looks, so be prepared!  And even when it's cool, your kids will need plenty of water, so remember that reusable water bottle.  Please remember to check the Lost & Found to see if one of the dozen or so water bottles, three jackets, one shirt, one pair of pants, one scarf, two hats, two gloves, or one big cozy blanket belong to you!  And as always, remember to cheer loudly for every runner, especially the runners coming in last.  Thank you all for your excellent support so far this season!

  • A huge virtual hug to our many families who brought donations for the F.A.S.T. Food Drive on Sunday!  We delivered three full boxes of foodstuffs and toiletries to the County for the food pantry we were asked to support.  It's such a great feeling giving back to our own community!
  • Your cheering this season is AWESOME!  We especially appreciate those of you who stuck around at the very last event even after your children finished to help cheer in our final runners.  This is what makes MYTF such a positive and fun place to be!
Friendly Reminders:
 
MYTF is NOT a drop-off sport, even at Meets.  As we reminded a 13-year-old girl who was clearly waiting for a ride after Sunday's Meets, parents MUST remain on site (or designate another adult WITH transportation to do so).  That is a requirement of our program (and a waiver you signed during registration...), and a fundamental imperative, no matter the child's age or level of maturity.  As many of you have seen, the stadium is open during Meets and we often have non-MYTF folks coming through, watching, and occasionally trying to use the track or field area, so it's not an imagined risk, and we absolutely have only your children' safety and security in mind.
 
The Volunteer shirts are loaners!  We know they are super stylish, but please remember to leave your volunteer t-shirt behind when the Meet is over.  We launder them in between - honest!  (Seriously, check our Twitter feed @McLeanYouthTF for evidence!)
 
The bleachers are for sitting on, not playing under.  Parents, please make sure your kids know that the space under the bleachers - while undoubtedly intriguing - is not a safe place to play, and is not open to us as part of our permit (hence the lock on the gate, even though small bodies can easily squeeze through the opening).

Many of you heard us singing the praises of CHOPT McLean on Sunday as we reminded everyone to go collect their FREE kid's salad (or kid's box!) after the Meet.  HUGE props to CHOPT rep Teresa for inviting our Red Meet-ers who got rained out the previous week to join in on Blue's action this week!

Hopefully, your appetite for CHOPT's amazingly fresh, locally-sourced (read:  non-lethal romaine!) salads and soups isn't exhausted yet!  Invite your friends and neighbors to head over to CHOPT at 1449A Chain Bridge Road (the same shopping center as our CAVA fundraiser, near Total Wine) this Friday (flyer attached), and remember to tell the cashier you're with the MYTF fundraiser!  MYTF receives 20% of the evening's proceeds!  What a healthy way to get ready for the inevitable weekend overindulgences (or is that just me?).

The Land of the Left Behind is growing rapidly for only being a few weeks into the season, so we thought we'd send a visual reminder (pic attached) of what may be your water bottle, shirt, or sweatshirt!  We also have a very nice, warm-looking blanket from the ├╝ber-cold event of two Sundays ago, a handful of gloves, hats, a scarf, and some blue pants added this weekend.  Anything look familiar to anyone?  Lost & Found items will always be at Meets, but feel free to email us here at   if you need them sooner or won't be able to attend a future Meet to claim them.
 
Weather & Practices this week:
 
Welp, we may not be having fun with the weather this season, but it's sure having fun with us!  There's a big green blob headed this way on the radar, so we are expecting a likely cancellation of today's practices (not because we can't run in rain, but because we're not allowed to ruin the tender grass fields that weaken with enough precipitation).  We will send a RainedOut alert as soon as we know for sure (because you never know when Mother Nature may change that finicky mind of hers).  If you're not already signed up for RainedOut, text the word TURBOJAV to 84483.

FRIDAY, APRIL 20th, 2018

Here's to a Friday that's looking at a much better weekend for a Track Meet!  WHEW.

 
First, a quick thank you to all of you who came out to support MYTF at the CAVA fundraiser on Wednesday.  We saw a lot of familiar faces, and we genuinely thank everyone for their support!
 
Next, some super important reminders:
  • F.A.S.T. Food Drive - Please remember this is our week to give back through Fairfax County's outstanding support program. We are asking (but not requiring!) families to bring an item from the list on the attached flyer as a donation to this important project.
  • This is BLUE Group's week for FREE kids' salads at CHOPT McLean this Sunday!  After the Meet, simply take in your blue race bib and let them know you're there for the MYTF free kids' salad deal - and remember to thank them for their support!
  • Help Needed at Meets - we know y'all were freezing last week and everyone just wanted to cuddle under their blankets, but we want to remind everyone that without enough adult volunteers, we cannot operate all the events at the Meet.  Please step forward and take a turn at the timer's table or a field event so that we can make sure everything is available to all of our kids each week.
  • Non-volunteer parents must remain OUTSIDE the fence - if you are not an actively volunteering parent/guardian, we ask you to do your cheering (just as enthusiastically) from outside the fence, and not on the track or field.  Only coaches and yellow-shirted volunteers should be inside, because otherwise we quickly descend into disorganized chaos (rather than our usual highly organized chaos).  We promise your 5-year-old will be just fine in our care, and she will still hear you from the other side of the fence!
  • Bring Water & Sunscreen - it hasn't been much of an issue in the freezing cold, blustery, gray days we've had so far, but with hopefully warmer temps, we want to remind everyone to bring PLENTY of water because there is NO source for refills on site.  And since there's even a chance we may see the sun (shhhh, don't scare it!), you might wanna throw some sunscreen in the bag too.
And finally, THIS WEEK'S MEET DETAILS:
 
1.  Ribbons & Results - Beginning this past Sunday, we are now recording the race and field results and providing them back to you in two forms:  1) ribbons and 2) results - both available at each subsequent Meet.  Places are determined by a child's age and gender within a race heat (or for field events, all participating members of the age/gender category, e.g., 5-year-old girls, 7-year-old boys, etc.).  Here's what you can expect:
 
Ribbons - EVERY participant gets a ribbon, but we do award places 1 - 6, with honorable mentions for everyone else.  Ribbons are a mostly self-serve operation due to the volume we process.  When you come to the Meet, there will be a ribbon table in the Admin area.  We print labels for every result, sorted by name (last name, first name); you locate your (child/ren's) labels, then pull the appropriate ribbons from our ribbon box; then put the label on the tag on the back side of the appropriate ribbon.  (We will have someone available to help with this process most weeks.)
 
Results - We also provide the race results to you in spreadsheet form online, and in a (single, shared) printed copy available at the Meets.  We try to get results posted by the weekend, but our main goal is making sure ribbon labels are ready, so sometimes the web results take a back seat in priority.  Still, they will ultimately be there for reference to see progress over the course of the season.
 
PLEASE NOTE:  Due to last week's weather conditions, we do have a few race result sheets and timing slips that are a wee tad hard to read, so it is possible we will have some race heats where we are only able to assign finish order (1st - 6th), and cannot provide exact times.  We do apologize for the inconvenience; please know our Head Timers all did an OUTSTANDING job, and this is the fault only of the weather and the timing devices which are sometimes finicky and do not want to cooperate with the computer, leaving us with only the printed (and in this case, damp) slips for reference.
 
2.  HIGH JUMP CLINIC:  We will again be offering the high jump clinic for the 9-14-year-olds before each of their respective Meets, so 9-14s who are interested should arrive at 10 am (Red Group) or 2:30 pm (Blue Group) accordingly.
 
3.  RACE EVENTS - And finally, this week's expected race events will be (in this order):  the 100M, the 800M, the 200M, and the 1600M/mile (time-permitting).  PLEASE listen for your age group to be called for races - things were very confusing in the high winds and rain last week so we were a bit more lax, but beginning this week, we will be enforcing our regular policy of NOT going back and running additional heats for kids who missed their age group's race heat.  PLEASE remind kids to listen for their age group to be called to the start line; once we've run their age group, we will not go back and add them to another age group or run an additional heat.  (Field events are always open to all age groups.)

Good morning, MYTFers!
 
First, a quick note of thanks and a bit of awe for all of you who braved the weather on Sunday before it got out of hand and caused us to shut down.  We know the late afternoon group was disappointed, but trust us, it wasn't pretty out there!  So far, this Sunday's forecast looks MUCH better (although we're a bit afraid to say that out loud...), so hopefully we're on a warming (if still windy) trend - and dryer.
 
Now, two VERY important reminders for things coming up this week, and flyers for each are attached for your reference:
 
1.  Dinner at CAVA tomorrow night (Wed, 4/18) to raise funds for MYTF:  Please remember to make CAVA McLean (1445 Chain Bridge Rd) your choice for family dinner out tomorrow night!  From 6 pm to 10 pm (so, plenty of time to get there even after the late practices!), MYTF will be the beneficiary of the evening's proceeds.  Please remember to tell them you're with MYTF, and to thank them for their support of our program!
 
2.  MYTF gives back this Sunday, 4/22 - MYTF is a proud participant in Fairfax County's "Fairfax Athletes Stand Together (F.A.S.T.)" program, which matches local sports programs with communities in need.  We've been asked to support a local food pantry by having our families each bring a canned or boxed food item from the list below to this Sunday's Meets for collection.  Please know there is no obligation, but we highly encourage support of this program as the recipients of our support are our neighbors right here in Fairfax County.  If every one of our families brings at least one item, we can have a VERY big impact in just one day!

LOTS to cover in advance of Sunday's Meets, so let's get to it:
 
***WEATHER ALERT***
First, we want to make sure everyone is aware of Sunday's forecast, which includes not only showers, but possible thunderstorms in the afternoon.  If the showers are intermittent and not too overwhelming, we will absolutely hold the Meet!  HOWEVER, if the rains become too driving or at the first sign of thunder or lightning, we will suspend or cancel the Meet.  We generally do NOT cancel based on forecasts alone - we all know how unreliable they can be around here - so PLEASE stay tuned to your RainedOut alerts*.  
(*If you haven't already signed up for RainedOut alerts, now would be an excellent time to do so!  Text the word TURBOJAV to 84483 to sign up for MYTF alerts.)
 
For safety reasons, everyone must leave the stadium and remain clear for at least 30 minutes following the last sign of thunder or lightning.  If we can suspend and resume, we will, but keep in mind our permit is for a limited time (we must conclude by 6:00 pm), and depending on when thunder begins and how long it lasts, we may not be able to continue.  We are also not able to reschedule Meets due to the lack of available facilities, so let's all cross our fingers for some good weather mojo!
 
TOP TEN OTHER THINGS TO KNOW FOR SUNDAY  (We warned you there was a LOT this week!)
 
1.  Since many have asked:  no, you may not come to the other Group's Meet if you are unable to make your own.  We know you're just one family, but if we let one of you do it, we have to let everyone do it, and pretty soon, we have everyone at a single Meet and have defeated the whole reason we divided in the first place.  PLEASE ONLY COME TO THE MEET ASSIGNED FOR YOUR GROUP.
 
2.  WATER ONLY on the turf field, please!  We saw that Gatorade bottle last week... 
 
3.  Speaking of water, please remember to bring LOTS of it, because the only onsite source for refilling your water bottles will be those rain showers!
 
4.   This week's race events will be the 100M, 400M, 1600M (Mile), and if time permits, the 200M (the first week, it is entirely possible we will not have time for the 4th event).  Please remember that while you are free to come and go as you need, we do race events by age & gender and we do *not* go back and re-do an age once it's been completed, so if you want to participate in a particular event, you kinda have to be there when it's called.  We can't predict exact start times, but we will run the races in the order listed above.  All three field events (Long Jump, Shot Pot, and Turbo/AeroJav) will be available as long as the rain permits (i.e., the Long Jump pit may be closed if the showers make the sand unusable), and are open to all ages throughout the Meet to be visited between race events as desired.
 
5.  We will be timing/measuring and recording results this week.  PLEEEEEEASE remember that ALL of our event leaders as well as our Head Timers are parent volunteers and mostly new to the gig, so be patient and understanding as they are learning!
 
6.  With the recorded results, we will issue ribbons* to all participants for all events.  EVERYONE gets a ribbon, but we do award places (1st through 6th, with Honorable Mention for 7th & higher).  (*Ribbons will be available for pickup at the NEXT Meet, and we'll explain that process in next week's email.)
 
7.  PARKING is a challenge on Sundays because there is a church that meets at the school in the late morning/early afternoon hours.  The 9:00 am and 3:30 pm Meet times should be okay, but the 11:00 am and 1:30 pm groups should keep in mind that spaces will be limited, and you may need to park on the other side of the school or along the street, so please be prepared.
 
8.  Did we mention that there is RAIN in the forecast?  Please remember to dress accordingly!  Hats with brims are VERY helpful on rainy days, and light, removable layers are always the best option, especially since it will be (thank goodness!) a LOT warmer than last week.
 
9.  Please remember your RACE BIB!  We provide the safety pins.
 
10.  And finally, if you didn't hear our big announcement last week (drumroll please):  our awesome sponsor/fundraising partner CHOPT McLean has offered that for the remainder of the season, the Group with the afternoon Meet each week can show their race bib for a FREE kid's salad on Sunday nights!  So, Red Group this week, rain or shine, remember to head to CHOPT (in the Total Wine shopping center on Chain Bridge Road) for dinner after the Meet on Sundaywith your kids' race bibs in hand.  (And yes, Chopt knows that this week is "Red".)

MONDAY, APRIL 9, 2018:
 
Happy Monday, everyone!
 

Well, THAT was a cold start to the season!  But WOW, what an incredible turnout for such a frigid, blustery day:  more than 80 (well-bundled) runners showed up for the morning Orientation Meet (Red), and more than 100 for the afternoon Meet (Blue)!  We are so impressed with the fortitude of our MYTFers - and their parents!  :)

 
A couple quick updates for this week:
  • RED GROUP - NO PRACTICES ON THURSDAY:  This has been on the calendar on our website, but we want to call everyone's attention to the fact that due to a school event, we do NOT have access to the Cooper MS field this Thursday, 4/12.  After some internal discussion, our only real option is to cancel the Red Group practices for that day, because unfortunately, Churchill is just not big enough to handle everyone, especially with its limited parking.  Blue will go on as scheduled at Churchill.  We know that's not really fair, but it is entirely possible that we will have another such cancellation this season, in which case we'll be able to restore balance.  Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee a makeup; it's not an ideal situation, but it's one of the hazards in a County with more sports than available facilities.
  • Lost & Found - it only took one day of Meets to completely fill up our Lost & Found bucket!  We've collected several jackets, and a goodly amount of water bottles and hanteens (but thank goodness you all labeled them!), so please be sure to drop by the Admin area at next Sunday's Meet to see if you may be the proud owner of any of the collected items.  (All unclaimed items will be brought each Sunday for the remainder of the season, so don't worry if you can't make it this week.)
  • PARENTS:  please remember that MYTF is NOT a drop-off sport.  If you attended yesterday's opening sessions, you heard us make the plea, but for those who couldn't make it and are new to the program:  yes, we know your 13-year-old has her own phone and can ride her bike everywhere else by herself, but here at MYTF, parental presence WITH transportation is a program requirement   We have had too many incidents arise during practices and Meets that a) necessitate the sudden cancellation of practice due to a weather or security emergency, or b) require an adult to attend to an injury or other personal emergency, and there are not nearly enough coaches to fit all 50+ kids who attend any given practice (or 150 who attend any given Meet) into their cars, or enough to spare a coach to tend to a single child's injury or issue.  And believe us:  if your family is doing it, so are others, so please don't count on the numbers working in your favor!  Carpools with friends and neighbors are absolutely welcome and encouraged, as long as your child knows who their designated adult is, but an ADULT withTRANSPORTATION MUST remain onsite at EVERY event - both practices and Meets.  Thank you for your cooperation with this important safety policy!

Below you will find everything you need to know for this Sunday's Orientation Meet, but first, three VERY important announcements:
  • ALL RUNNERS REPORT AT EITHER 9:00 am (Red) OR 1:30 pm (Blue).  The times listed in the newsletter are correct; the webpage was wrong.  We are sorry for that error, and it has been corrected, but there are NOT separate age division start times this week.  Please know that, as with all Meets, you may come and go as you need, and if you can't make it, it will be FINE - we promise it's not hard to catch on at the next Meet!
  • TONIGHT, 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm at RoadRunner Sports in Falls Church is the first MYTF fundraiser of the season!  PLEASE come support MYTF by seeing what RoadRunner has to offer, and partaking of the fun and festivities.  An event flyer with more info is attached.
  • We still need a BLUE Group Head Timer for 5-8-year-olds.  Please understand that we cannot record results and issue ribbons if we do not find someone to fill this role!  It's only for five Meets (Orientation is a learning time only, and we don't record results at Family Fun). No prior experience is required, so if you can make this important commitment, please let us know ASAP and plan to get some training and practice in during the Orientation Meet on Sunday.
ORIENTATION MEET INFO:
 
It looks like the forecast of Saturday snow has now turned to overnight rain, so we are expecting to be ON for Sunday!   That said, it will be a cold Meet, so please remember to dress appropriately!  
 
Kids should wear:
  • Several light layers that can be added/removed as they get warm from running/colder as they rest between events.
  • A warm jacket for check-in and when we're doing the quick intro, and for when they're done - they will cool down quickly in 40-degree weather!
  • Sneakers (they don't have to be fancy running shoes, they just need to be rubber-soled sneakers; they may NOT be spikes, Crocs, boots, sandals, skate-shoes, or any other non-sneaker variants).
  • A hat, preferably a warm one that covers their ears (yes, even when they're running!  Especially if it's at all windy, ears quickly get VERY cold in the breeze of running!).
  • Gloves or mittens, because little fingers get cold even when you're running, and it's hard to run properly with your hands in your pockets! 
Adults:  Remember that you too will be outside for a few hours - warm jackets, hats, gloves, and a maybe a blanket for the bleachers (which are metal).  Of course, the very best way to keep warm is to come down and help with our many volunteer activities!  :)
 
Also bring:
  • water, in a REUSABLE (and LABELED!) water bottle - even in cold, they will get thirsty from running around, and there are NO water sources on site!
  • NO other liquids (or solids, for that matter) are allowed on the turf field inside the Track, so please keep hot liquids, juice, snacks, etc. in the stands with you.
That's it.  We provide everything else you need!
 
Rough schedule:
 
We can't give exact times because how long everything will take depends almost entirely on turnout.  But in short, you will check-in when you arrive to get race bibs and other goodies; we will have a BRIEF intro (we'll be cold too, so we promise to keep it short!); we'll do a 15-minute warmup; and then we'll launch into the day's events.  While we are still determining the exact approach given the weather and potential turnout, what we can say is that the Orientation Meet is designed to give everyone a chance to get familiar with how Meets operate, so if you're new to the sport, this will help familiarize you in a very low-pressure way.  
 
We do NOT record results, we just give kids a chance to circulate around the various event areas, and introduce different aspects of the Track & Field Meet through active participation.  We also give adult volunteers a chance to see the different ways they can help, and especially for our Head Timers, this is a chance to practice their craft before we do begin recording results next Sunday.
 
Rules at the Track:
  • ALL CHILDREN MUST BE ACCOMPANIED BY AN ADULT FOR THE ENTIRE MEET.  MYTF is not a drop-off sport!  There are not nearly enough coaches to have eyes on all the kids, and we are far too spread out to take any chances, so PLEASE remember that you (or another designated adult WITH transportation) must remain onsite at ALL MYTF events.
  • NO pets - FCPS' rule (but a good one), and violations can cost us our permit, so please leave Fido & Fluffy at home.
  • Spectators must stay outside the Track fence - it quickly gets chaotic with so many people on the field, so if you are not an active running or a volunteering parent, you MUST watch from outside the fence (the Track fence, not the stadium fence - we're organized, not mean!).
  • At MYTF, we cheer for everyone - you may absolutely cheer for children by name, but we never cheer against anyone (it's "Yay, Joe!" not "beat that kid next to you!")and we cheer loudest for the runner who's coming in last, because they need it the most.
Weather Changes/RainedOut Alerts:
 
In the event that snow does, in fact, materialize and we have to change the plan, PLEASE sign up for RainedOut text alerts as that will be our first and fastest mode of communication.  To sign up, simply text the word TURBOJAV to 84483; you will receive a confirmation text within a minute or so.  Signing up with "Turbojav" will only sign you up for MYTF alerts.  And please know that we generally do NOT cancel Meets due to rain!  (Snow/ice, excessively high winds, lightning/thunder, or driving, pouring rains will cause a cancellation, but light/intermittent rain is a very runnable condition!)

Welcome back from Spring Break!
 
Today's email will focus on practices, inclement weather, our first fundraiser activity, and a critical volunteer need (Head Timer - Blue 5-8s), plus our seasonal newsletter!  A follow-up Friday email will have a little more info about Sunday's Meet (Fridays will be our usual "weekly email" day).  Read on to find out what you need to know to get the season started tomorrow!
 
Newsletter 
Most of what's below (and some other good stuff) is captured in our seasonal newsletter.  The best feature this season?  A Blue/Red Schedule page that can be printed/folded and hung on the fridge!  We will have some printed copies at practices this week and at Sunday's Meet for those who still like the feel of paper (or who don't have printers at home), but please feel free to visit our website's front page for a link to the .pdf.
 
 Friday Fundraiser at RoadRunner Sports - 6-8 pm
Please help support MYTF this season by doing your running gear shopping this Friday, April 6th, 6-8 pm at RoadRunner Sports in Falls Church!  MYTF will get a portion of the proceeds of any sales, and YOU will get an exclusive MYTF discount by shopping during this event!  Free pizza and drinks will be provided, and some cool games and prizes will be included if we can get a good turnout.  (Reminder:  MYTF does not require any special equipment for participation in our program; regular sneakers are fine!)  An event flyer is attached with more info, and coaches will remind everyone at practices this week.
 
NEED:  Head Timer, Blue Group, Ages 5-8
We now have three of the four Head Timers that we need on board, but we need one more!  Our Blue Group youngers (ages 5-8) need a committed volunteer who can attend all (or most) Sunday Meets and serve as the Head Timer.  This is a critical role for being able to record results and issue ribbons, and we promise it's not that hard to learn!  Please email us here at   if you can serve in this vital role.

Well, tomorrow may be optimistic for a season kickoff, based on the current forecast!  Unfortunately, both practice locations we use have tracks around grass fields, and we use the fields as much as the tracks.  MYTF is responsible for any damage that results from our use of those fields, so (like most sports) we typically don't practice if the fields are too wet.  We let you know as soon as possible if a practice needs to be canceled, but we also try to give the weather and fields as much chance as possible to cooperate, so (like most sports) the time of decision is usually around 3:00 pm.
 
PLEASE sign up for RainedOut text alerts, which is our primary and fastest method of communicating urgent changes!  We will also send an email and update the website, but those often come later when someone is available at a computer; we can send RainedOut alerts from our phones while still at the field making a determination, so that will be our first notice.  To sign up for RainedOut, text the word TURBOJAV to 84483.  You will only receive MYTF updates.  (Text and data charges by your carrier may apply.)
 
Practice Info
And finally:  if we do get to practice this week, here's the lowdown on who's where and what's what:
 
1.  Practices are offered and encouraged, but never mandatory.  If you can attend, great!  If you can't make it, great!  We'll see you at the next one, or on Sunday.  There is no expectation that kids will attend every practice session.
 
2.  The only hard and fast rules we have for practices are:
a.  you MUST attend practices ONLY for your Group (Blue or Red);
b.  you MUST attend practices ONLY for your age division (5-8 or 9-14); and
c.  you MUST be accompanied by a designated adult WITH transportation.  
 
MYTF is not a drop-off sport.  It will quickly become apparent why when you see the ratio of kids to coaches, but it is an imperative that kids have an adult who can take them to the port-a-potty, attend to injuries or personal issue, and most importantly, get them safely off the property in the event of sudden inclement weather or safety issues.  We absolutely encourage carpooling if you have friends or neighbors in the program, as long as each child knows who their designated adult is.
 
3.  What to bring:  WATER (there is NO source onsite!) in a REUSABLE water bottle (we don't like to make a mess!); running-appropriate shoes (i.e., sneakers - no clogs, Crocs, skate-shoes, sandals, flip-flops, boots, etc.); and weather-appropriate clothing - light layers are recommended. 
 
THIS WEEK: 
 
--> BLUE:  Cooper Middle School (all week): 5-8s T-Th at 5 pm, and W at 6; 9-14s T-Th at 6 pm, and W at 5.
 
--> RED:  Churchill Elementary School (all week):  5-8s T-Th at 5 pm, and W at 6; 9-14s T-Th at 6 pm, and W at 5.
 
Meet - Quickly
Yes, we will have the Meet this Sunday even though it may be sub-40 temps.  (YIKES!)  Dress in light, warm layers, and know that we plan to keep you moving!  (Yes, you too parents - we will need LOTS of volunteer assistance!)  More details on Friday...

All-MYTF Email, March 21st, 2018:

Happy 2nd Day of Spring!  (It is Spring, right??)

Hard to believe on a day like this, but MYTF’s season gets underway in just under TWO short weeks!  As such, we wanted to touch base with a few key dates & reminders.  More information about our Orientation Meet will follow in an email next week, but this will help you plan for our first week of practices, and some other important items:

Tuesday, April 3rd – MYTF practices get underway!

Assuming the snow has melted and the tracks & fields are open:

  • BLUE practices at Cooper MS, Apr 3-5
  • RED practices at Churchill ES, Apr 3-5

We will swap locations the following week (and alternate each week thereafter).  Please see the Schedule page of our website (www.mcleantrack.org) for specifics, including the practice times for each age division each day.

Friday, April 6th 6-8 pm – MYTF Night at RoadRunner Sports in Falls Church

While we do NOT require any specific equipment for MYTF other than shoes appropriate for running (plain ol’ sneakers are fine for this!), we know that many of you like to have gear designed specifically for the task.  Whether you’re an older MYTFer who no longer outgrows shoes in the span of an MYTF season, a parent who runs for exercise or sport, or just a super-stylish 5-year-old, if you are interested in good running shoes and other gear, please drop in RoadRunner during MYTF night.  We get a portion of the proceeds from any sales, and you get an exclusive MYTF discount!  (For those less inspired by running gear than, say, free food, rumor has it pizza and drinks will be served…)  Please see the attached flyer, and plan to join us on Friday at our first official MYTF fundraiser!

Sunday, April 8th – MYTF Orientation Meets

We officially kick off the season beginning with the RED Group at 9:00 am.  BLUE will follow beginning at 1:30 pm.  For the Orientation Meet, ALL runners report at the same time for their respective Group (we will split by age divisions for the next five Meets).  All Meets this season will be held at FallsChurch High School.  

So:       - ALL RED Group members – 9:00 am at FCHS

            - ALL BLUE Group members – 1:30 pm at FCHS

More Meet details to come, but we do want to remind you as you begin planning for that day that we do require everyone to attend ONLY their assigned Group’s events (this goes for practices too).  We divided for a reason, and if we make one exception we have to make them all; pretty soon, we have everybody in the afternoon group and we can’t get the Meet done in time.  We know that means some folks will miss the first Meet (or others during the season) – we promise you will catch right up at the next Meet, and that you will get your $60 worth out of the season overall.

We have SO much more to share, but we know you won't read it all at once, so stay tuned for the next update, and remember that shoveling is an excellent pre-season workout for cooped up MYTFers home from school!
